BLAKK RASTA CRITICIZES AFRICAN PRESIDENTS, CALLS FOR LEADERSHIP REFORMS

Ghanaian musician and radio personality, Abubakar Ahmed, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, has delivered a fiery critique of African leadership, lamenting the excessive power and reverence granted to presidents across the continent.

Speaking on his “Urban Blend” show on 3FM monitored by NKONKONSA.com, Blakk Rasta described African presidents as being treated like “demigods,” wielding unchecked authority while the masses suffer under poor governance.

“In some countries, presidents are even more respected than God,” he remarked. “They wield power far greater than one can imagine.” Blakk Rasta called for constitutional reforms to limit executive overreach, aligning with former President John Mahama’s recent push for changes in governance.

He lauded Mahama’s pledge to abolish ex-gratia benefits for government officials if re-elected but urged the former president to back his words with action. “Here’s a man who understands the sweetness of wealth, yet he’s saying he’s not interested in ex-gratia. It’s a bold stance, but Mr. President, don’t get complacent—it’s still early days,” he cautioned.

Blakk Rasta didn’t spare past governments, taking aim at the much-publicized “Year of Roads” program, which he described as a monumental failure.

Recalling a recent trip from Accra to Wa, he painted a grim picture of Ghana’s road conditions. “The so-called Year of Roads is nothing but a farce. The journey is filled with dust, potholes, and broken-down vehicles. It tells the real story of neglect,” he lamented.

He also highlighted the dire state of rural areas, mentioning a village called Chich, where cemeteries outnumber basic amenities like pipe-borne water. “Imagine entering the capital by road and being greeted by such terrible conditions. It’s shameful!” he exclaimed.

Blakk Rasta’s passionate critique reflects growing frustrations among citizens over governance and infrastructure, calling for leaders to prioritize the welfare of their people over unchecked power and privilege.
