BURKINA FASO HAS GENERATED $18 BILLION FROM GOLD MINES SINCE IBRAHIM TRAORE TOOK OFFICE

Burkina Faso has reportedly generated over $18 billion from its gold mining sector since Captain Ibrahim Traoré assumed office in 2022, marking a dramatic turnaround in the West African nation’s control over its natural resources.

Under Traoré’s leadership, the government nationalised key industrial mines, strengthened state oversight, and cut foreign interference, ensuring that a larger share of gold profits benefits the Burkinabé people.

Traore’s government is using gold profits to invest in infrastructure, education, and security, putting Burkinabe people first and promoting African resource ownership.

“We will mine our gold ourselves, not for France, not for the west but for our people“, he said.
