Wutah Afriyie , a member of the disbanded Ghanaian group Wutah, has accused Burna Boy of Nigeria of stealing his song “Here to Stay” without giving him credit.
Although the artist was aware that Burna Boy was sampling his song, he acknowledged there wasn’t much he could do about it on Accra 100.5 FM’s mid-morning program Ayekoo Ayekoo.
I’m aware that he is using my song as a sample. In actuality, Jack was the one who called and emailed me a sample of the song.
After we performed at +233, he asked me if I knew if Burna Boy had sampled my song again, and I replied that I did. “This was about two to three months ago,” he said.
In spite of the fact that the self-proclaimed “Giant of Africa” made a few alterations, Afiyie claims that some people are labeling it “stealing,” while others would believe it’s an example of ingenuity.
Some claim it’s an act of creativity, while others claim it’s stealing. Also, he altered the key and sang differently than I did, but the sax and the flow were still there. “He played guitar on several of my melodies,” he continued.
“I am not after him in any way.” I am not asking for anything, but I feel if someone is using our template, they should let us know that at least this is where I am tapping from and give you your credit. “It’s just nice,” he added.
