CATERERS CONFIRM RECEIVING SCHOOL FEEDING ARREARS

With the exception of the arrears for the second term of 2023, caterers taking part in the school feeding program have certified that they have received payment for all past due amounts.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, declared that the government has successfully paid up all arrears owing to caterers under the scheme during the Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on July 31.

In particular, the first term of 2023 and the second and third terms of the academic year 2022 had their outstanding debts paid off.

The president of the National Association of School Feeding Caterers Association, Madam Charlotte Asante, acknowledged receipt of all payments in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News, with the exception of those for the second term of 2023.

She expressed hope that they would be given the unpaid arrears for 2023 this week, pointing out that the payments have always been made on time.

After some deliberation, it was decided that the unpaid arrears for the third term of 2022 and the first term of 2023 would be paid, which has now been done, according to Madam Charlotte Asante. The 2023 second term is still up in the air, though.

She promised that they would notify the media as soon as they received the payment this week.

In addition, she expressed her appreciation for the regular payments, which she saw as a positive trend in the School Feeding Programme’s history, and she hoped that this pattern would continue.
