CCTV CAPTURED ADU BOAHENE’S WIFE CARTING SUSPECTED CASH AFTER HIS ARREST – Deputy AG Tells Court

CCTV cameras caught the wife of Kwabena Adu Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, moving suitcases thought to have foreign money after he got arrested.

This came out in court from Deputy Attorney General Dr. Justice Srem Sai on Friday, March 28, 2025.

In the Accra Human Rights Court, Dr. Srem Sai said that what Angela Adjei Boateng did looked like she was trying to hide important evidence related to the alleged misuse of government money. The video shows her quickly moving the suitcases on the evening she was told about her husband’s arrest.

The case against Adu Boahene is centered on claims that he wrongly used funds from a $7 million cyber defense contract signed in 2020 between Ghana and an Israeli company, RLC Holdings Limited.

It appears that instead of using the money for the national security project, a large part was used for personal purposes.

The Attorney General’s office claims that on February 6, 2020, soon after finalizing the contract, Adu Boahene allegedly transferred GH¢27.1 million from a National Signals Bureau account at Fidelity Bank to a private account at UMB under BNC, a company he owns with his wife. It is said that the funds were then used in real estate investments inside and outside Ghana.

After their arrest, their legal team argued that the original bail terms were very harsh.

On Friday, the court lowered Adu Boahene’s bail from GH¢120 million to GH¢80 million, needing two guarantors, one of whom must prove financial capacity.

However, his wife’s bail stays at GH¢80 million. They also have movement restrictions and must report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times each week.

Even with the lower bail, the prosecution believes that they could try to run away, as they might have additional passports besides their Ghanaian ones.
