CEDI BUYS AT GH¢11.40, SELLS AT GH¢11.41 TO THE DOLLAR IN LATEST BOG RATE
The exchange rate reflects relative stability as President Mahama credits the Bank of Ghana for restoring respect to the local currency and encouraging its use in domestic transactions.

The Ghana Cedi is trading at GH¢11.4043 to buy and GH¢11.4157 to sell against the US dollar, according to the Bank of Ghana’s indicative rate for Monday, December 8, 2025.
Against the British Pound, the Cedi is buying at GH¢15.2498 and selling at GH¢15.2662.
The rate comes amid sustained government and central bank efforts to stabilize the local currency. President John Dramani Mahama recently praised the Bank of Ghana for restoring confidence in the Cedi, noting that more Ghanaians are now quoting prices including rent in Cedis rather than foreign currencies.
“Ghanaians are grateful to you for the management of the cedi; a lot of respect has returned to our currency. Whatever you have been doing, continue doing so that the Cedi is respected,” the President said during the Cedi at 60 International Currency Conference in Accra last month.
Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Elsie Addo Awadzi (referred to in the provided text), has also urged the public to support the currency, emphasizing that “the Cedi is a symbol of our pride, heritage and shared aspirations for a prosperous future.”
The current stability follows a period of significant depreciation, with authorities encouraging a shift away from dollarization and toward greater use of the national currency in everyday transactions.
