CEDI HOLDS STEADY AT GH¢12.59 PER DOLLAR ON INTERBANK MARKET
Ghana’s currency sees marginal gains as forex bureaus reflect higher retail rates across the country.
Ghana’s local currency, the cedi, continues to show resilience, holding steady against the US dollar on the interbank market. According to the latest update from the Bank of Ghana, the cedi is trading at a buying price of GH¢12.59 and a selling price of GH¢12.60 to the dollar.
The British pound is trading at GH¢16.73 for both buying and selling, while the euro is priced at GH¢14.07 for buying and GH¢14.09 for selling.
Despite this interbank stability, checks by NKONKONSA.com Business on the morning of May 14, 2025, reveal higher rates at major forex bureaus across the country. The cedi is reportedly trading at GH¢13.85 to the dollar, with the pound at GH¢18.70, and the euro at GH¢16.00 on the retail market.
These discrepancies reflect the ongoing dynamics between official interbank rates and the street market, often influenced by demand pressures and supply constraints in the informal sector.
