Afropop songstress and Rufftown Records flagship signee, Wendy Shayhas schooled Ghanaians on what the word “celebrity” means whilst replying to COP Kofi Boakye.
According to Wendy Shay, “celebrity is an English word which means a famous person especially in sports and entertainment “.
That said, Wendy Shay believes Ghanaians do not understand the correct definition of “celebrity”; hence, they have coined their definition to suit everyone.
She says Ghanaians define it as somebody who is famous.
In a tweet on November 15, Wendy Shay wrote:“Celebrity is an English word, it means a famous person especially in entertainment or sports etc., but it seems some Ghanaians have their own definition for the word celebrity, somebody being famous(celebrity) to Dey pain u people ooh Dabi smh. Ghana wake up!”
