A touching video has surfaced showing the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s former teacher, Mama Acheampong, overcome with emotion following news of the musician’s death. The footage, widely circulated on July 30, 2025, and shared by DL FM, captures Mama Acheampong in tears as she visited the late icon’s home to sign the book of condolence.
Expressing her heartfelt gratitude, Mama Acheampong thanked Daddy Lumba born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, for acknowledging her in his songs, a gesture she said changed her life. Through her sobs, she offered words of comfort to Daddy Lumba’s widow, Serwaa Broni, urging her to stay strong in the face of loss.
“Charles, thank you for making me popular. This is very sad and painful news. Akosua, stay strong, everything is going to be fine,” she said.
In a poignant moment, Mama Acheampong lamented her inability to care for the late musician’s children, saying, “Charles, who will take care of the kids? I am now an old woman, so I won’t be able to take care of them. Kwadwo, why did you leave us so soon?”
Daddy Lumba, renowned for timeless hits including Aben Wo Ha, Sika Asem, Theresa, Anidaso, and Ohia Asomdwe, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 60.
