CHIEF OF STAFF HOLD EMERGENCY MEETING WITH ENERGY SECTOR PLAYERS TO ADDRESS DUMSOR THREAT

The Chief of Staff has called an urgent meeting with important stakeholders in the energy sector to tackle the impending power crisis known as “dumsor.”

The gathering, conducted on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, comes in response to an order from President John Dramani Mahama, a day after his inauguration as President of Ghana.

As stated by John Abdulai Jinapor, the MP for Yapei-Kusawgu and ex-Deputy Energy Minister, the gathering includes representatives from GRIDCo, WAPCo, VRA, GNPC, BOST, and various power generation firms.

The aim is to create both short-term and long-term strategies to ensure a stable power supply and prevent countrywide blackouts.

Last night, extensive technical work was done, and several options have been put on the table for discussion. His Excellency will be briefed, and I’m confident he will provide further instructions through the Chief of Staff,” Jinapor said in an interview with the media.
