Former Black Stars midfielder, Christian Atsu was pulled from the rubble of the Turkey earthquake and is now undergoing treatment.
The 31-year-old winger was discovered to have been trapped in the debris on Monday after a terrible earthquake struck the nation. He spent 26hours under the wreckage before he was rescued.
Atsu has now been rescued from the rubble and has been transported to hospital after suffering injuries to his right foot and breathing difficulties.
Taner Savut, the club’s sporting director, and Atsu, a current player for the Turkish team Hatayspor, were both buried beneath the debris.
However, it was revealed on Tuesday morning that the Ghanaian had finally been found after hours of looking for the pair. The GFA said in a statement that it has received word that the football player is now receiving care at a hospital.
The West African country’s football governing body also called on all Ghanaians to keep Atsu in their prayers.
“Update: We’ve received some positive news that Christian Atsu has been successfully rescued from the rubble of the collapsed building and is receiving treatment. Let’s continue to pray for Christian,”the GFA posted on its Twitter page.
Atsu joined Hatayspor last summer following a short spell with Saudi Arabian topflight side Al Raed.
