CLOGSAG CALLS OFF STRIKE

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called off its strike action. which started November 7.

This was after a High Court ordered them to stop the strike.

A statement issued by CLOGSAG on Monday, November 11 said “We refer to our letter No. BA/14/2024 dated 4th November 2024 on the above subject matter in which CLOGSAG declared a Nationwide strike effective Thursday, 7th November 2024.

“By an order of an injunction dated 3th November, 2024, the National Labour Commission (NLC) secured an ex-parte injunction requiring CLOGSAG to call off the strike and further restraining the members of CLOGSAG from continuing with the strike.

“Being a law-abiding Association, CLOGSAG has taken into cognisance the injunction order. CLOGSAG hereby calls off the strike with immediate effect. CLOGSAG has decided to call off the strike due to its utmost respect for the Court and the laws of Ghana. All members are entreated to report to work. CLOGSAG assures members of its unrelenting efforts of ensuring better conditions of service for all.”

CLOGSAG had announced a nationwide strike effective November 7, due to the government’s delay in finalizing a new salary structure.

The union had previously announced its intention to proceed on strike in a statement dated October 22, anticipating that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) would miss the October 31 deadline to finalize the new salary structure.

A statement, issued on Monday, November 4, CLOGSAG’s Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, now considers the January 1, 2025 implementation date unrealistic.

The National Labour Commission (NLC) subsequntly obtained an injunction against the strike. The court order signed by Justice Frank Aboadwe Rockson noted that “UPON READING the affidavit of OFOSU ASAMOAH of House No. C199 Norley Afia Street Nmai -Djorn, Accra, the Executive Secretary for the Applicant herein filed on 7th day of November, 2024 in support of Motion Ex-Parte for an order for Interlocutory Injunction:
