Ghanaian media personality, Vim Lady, whose real name is Afia Pokua, has expressed her opinions on the recent statements made by Hopeson Adorye after he was released.
During a Facebook live session with his wife Empress Gifty, Adorye had previously bragged about using his arrest to his advantage in politics.
He characterized his arrest as a secret gift that gained him global recognition.
Vim Lady went against his views, highlighting possible adverse effects on Adorye’s family, particularly his wife Empress Gifty, who is a gospel artist, as well as on the nation in general.
She advised Adorye to make the safety of the nation a top priority and to also take into account how his decisions might affect his wife’s emotions, rather than focusing solely on any political benefits he could gain.
Even though there was some online backing for Adorye’s confident comments in the live video, Empress Gifty urged him to show restraint and not make the situation worse.
She highlighted the strain on families in such circumstances, especially when a partner is lacking in resilience and belief.
When Adorye expressed his plans to retaliate against those criticizing him, Vim Lady supported Empress Gifty’s advice on the significance of heeding one’s partner’s counsel.
She stated that although the arrest was not needed, it had unintentionally improved Adorye’s political status, which could result in more problems.
Adorye was arrested for allegedly using explosives in the Volta region to intimidate NDC supporters before the 2016 elections, a strategy he believed helped NPP win.
He is accused of disseminating inaccurate information and is currently released on bail.
Even after being arrested, Adorye maintains his defiance, claiming that his arrest is linked to his decision to leave the NPP and accusing certain members within the party of scheming against him.
She wrote;
“Hopeson Adorye This is why I thought the arrest was needless despite the fact his comment was extreme.
The arrest has increased Hopeson’s political capital to do more damage.
Hopeson, please next time consider the safety of the nation and even the emotional effect on your wife over the political mileage you will get.
