Joyce Dzidzor Mensah has again ignited a crucial discussion, this time regarding the expensive cost of living in Accra.
In a video posted on Facebook, she contrasted life in Ghana’s capital with that in Europe, emphasizing the sharp differences in costs, particularly for essential items like food and housing.
Her worries echo the sentiments of numerous Ghanaians, especially those residing in cities, who frequently struggle with increasing prices of food, housing, and transport.
Joyce observed that while utility costs in Europe could be elevated, the gap in living expenses between a developed nation and a developing one is still difficult to explain.
“I just don’t understand how a developing country like Ghana has such expensive living costs,” Joyce expressed with palpable frustration in her voice.
“In Europe, you can walk into a supermarket, and with a reasonable budget, you can fill your basket. But here in Accra, it’s shocking how much people have to pay for basic groceries.”
“What’s even sadder,” Joyce noted, “is that these same farmers don’t eat the crops they sell. They keep the organic, safer produce for their families while selling the chemical-treated ones to unsuspecting consumers. It’s unfair and dangerous.”
