COURT GRANTS GH¢50,000 BAIL TO BLOGGER ACCUSED OF DEFAMING FORMER NCA CHAIR
Samuel Amadotor of Dklassgh.net pleads not guilty to charges of publishing false news, as the case adjourns following his release.

An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to blogger Samuel Amadotor, who stands accused of publishing false information with the intent to damage the reputation of the former Board Chairman of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Okatakyie Boakye Danquah Ababio II.
Presiding Judge Her Ladyship Evelyn Asamoah set the bail at GH¢50,000 with two sureties. Amadotor, the operator of Dklassgh.net, pleaded not guilty to two charges: publication of false news to cause fear and panic under the Criminal Offences Act, and publication of false news under the Electronic Transactions Act.
The prosecution’s case alleges that Amadotor was arrested at his residence for posting stories and videos online that were damaging to the reputation of the former NCA chairman.
Following submissions from both the prosecution and the defense counsel, the court granted the bail application. The ruling did not specify the court’s justification for the decision.
Amadotor’s lawyer, Jerry Avenorgbo, expressed approval of the court’s decision following the hearing. The case has been adjourned, with proceedings set to continue after the blogger secures his release.
