COURT ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR DEBORAH SEYRAM ADABLAH OVER CONTEMPT CHARGES

The Accra High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of social media influencer Deborah Seyram Adablah for contempt of court, following her alleged defiance of a judicial directive and public attacks on the judiciary.

Adablah, who gained widespread attention in 2023 after filing a civil suit against senior banker Ernest Kwesi Nimako—whom she described as her former lover—accused him of sexual harassment and breach of financial promises made during their intimate relationship. Among the disputed items was ownership of a Honda Civic, which she claimed was a gift.

On May 16, 2023, the court ordered her to surrender the vehicle, registered GC 7899-23, to the court registrar for safekeeping pending the outcome of the case. However, she has reportedly failed to comply with the directive.

In a new twist, Justice John Bosco Nabarese, presiding over the matter, issued a warrant for Adablah’s arrest after she released a series of videos on social media in which she sharply criticized the court and the judge himself.

In the videos, Adablah alleged bias and misconduct on the part of the judiciary, claiming Justice Nabarese had refused to reverse an earlier ruling by Justice Olivia Owusu despite acknowledging procedural delays. “You are joking. What is preventing you from doing the right thing?” she said in one of the videos, directly addressing the judge.

Her comments, which included warnings for the judge to “be ready to dance to this drum you are beating,” and controversial remarks about the judiciary “chopping salaries that are coming from my menstruation,” have sparked public debate and led to the court’s move to initiate contempt proceedings.

Adablah went further to declare that the contempt case was “dead on arrival” and suggested that Ghana’s judiciary was plagued by spiritual influences. She also vowed to appeal the ruling, stating, “as an old man, you should be retiring in peace, not carrying young spirits with you.”

The court has summoned Adablah to appear and justify why she should not be held in contempt for her conduct. Her failure to do so will likely trigger enforcement of the arrest warrant.
