COURT ORDERS FRESH PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION IN KPANDAI CONSTITUENCY WITHIN 30 DAYS
The Tamale High Court has nullified the 2024 parliamentary results, citing significant irregularities in 41 polling stations and directing the Electoral Commission to conduct a full rerun.

The Tamale High Court has ordered a complete rerun of the Kpandai constituency parliamentary election, giving the Electoral Commission 30 days to organize a new poll.
The judgment, delivered by His Lordship Justice Emmanuel Brew Plange on Monday, follows an election petition filed by the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament, Daniel Nsala Wakpal. Wakpal challenged the victory of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Matthew Nyindam, alleging substantial non-compliance with electoral regulations during the December 7, 2024, polls.
The petitioner contended that irregularities and inconsistencies in the Statement of Polls (the Pink Sheets) for 41 out of the constituency’s 152 polling stations had compromised the election’s integrity. He argued that the processes violated key provisions of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127), specifically Regulations 39 and 43, which govern the recording and public declaration of results.
In his ruling, Justice Plange upheld the petition, agreeing that the cited non-compliance was significant enough to have affected the outcome of the election. The court subsequently ordered the Electoral Commission, the second respondent in the case, to conduct a fresh election across the entire Kpandai constituency to determine the legitimate representative.
This decision nullifies the earlier declaration of Matthew Nyindam as the MP-elect and sets the stage for a high-stakes electoral contest in the coming weeks, with both major parties expected to mobilize heavily for the rerun.
