GOVERNMENT TERMINATES ALL CONTRACTS UNDER SCHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMME

The government of Ghana has terminated the contracts of all caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) with immediate effect.

This was announced in an official letter issued by Hajia Fati Forgor, National Coordinator of the GSFP, dated May 2, 2025. The notice, which has since gone viral, states that all current contracts have been revoked as part of a broader restructuring of the programme.

“Please be informed that contracts of all caterers of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) nationwide have been terminated with immediate effect,” the letter read.

As a result, no existing caterer is allowed to provide meals for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic year. The GSFP Secretariat has promised to soon announce the new modalities for recruiting fresh caterers.

Despite the abrupt termination, the government assured stakeholders that all outstanding arrears from the second term of the 2024/2025 academic year will be settled in due course.

This sweeping decision is expected to affect thousands of caterers and workers who were engaged under the programme, which was originally designed to provide daily meals to schoolchildren as a means to improve enrollment and retention.
