DADDY LUMBA’S FINAL FUNERAL RITES RESCHEDULED TO DECEMBER 13
The new date was set by the Manhyia Palace, which also established a new funeral committee and addressed a family request for a postmortem to investigate suspicions of foul play.

The final funeral rites for highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known to the world as Daddy Lumba, have been officially rescheduled to Saturday, December 13, 2025. This announcement from the Manhyia Palace moves the event from the initially planned date of December 6.
The decision was finalized during a meeting on Monday, November 10, at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace, where a new funeral committee was appointed under the chairmanship of Dadiesoabahene to oversee the arrangements.
A significant development at the meeting was a request from the late musician’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, who publicly voiced suspicions about the circumstances of her brother’s death. She formally requested a postmortem to be conducted to rule out any foul play and asked for the funeral to be delayed until the results were available.
The presiding chiefs ruled that the matter of the postmortem would be handed over to the police for investigation, while simultaneously confirming that the funeral would proceed on the new date of December 13. The family was urged to remain united to give the celebrated musician a dignified and befitting burial.
In a related matter, the Palace addressed the earlier invocation of the Great Oath (Ntam Kese) by Akosua Brempomaa. The Asantehene has granted her a pardon for the act but issued a stern warning against repeating such an action in the future.
