GHANA’S HIGHLIFE MUSIC ICON DADDY LUMBA HONOURED DURING DAVIDO’S SOLD-OUT CONCERT IN CANADA

Nigerian music superstar Davido has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, during his “5Five Alive” tour stop in Toronto, Canada.

During his concert on Saturday night, Davido performed one of Daddy Lumba’s classic songs, dedicating the moment to the beloved musician, who sadly passed away earlier that day, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra at age 60. Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was admitted to the hospital days prior for undisclosed medical reasons.

The gesture electrified the audience, with many Ghanaian fans in attendance moved by the show of respect from one African superstar to another. Social media was flooded with videos of Davido’s tribute, with many praising the performance as a powerful symbol of unity between the Nigerian and Ghanaian music industries.

In a statement released by Baba Jamal & Associates on behalf of Daddy Lumba’s family, the late icon was described as a “national treasure” whose music touched countless lives across generations.
