DECEMBER 5 DECLARED STATUTORY PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR FARMERS’ DAY
The Interior Ministry has officially designated Friday as a nationwide holiday to honor the contributions of farmers and fishers to Ghana's food security and economic growth.

The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, December 5, 2025, a statutory public holiday in observance of National Farmers’ Day.
In an official statement, Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka confirmed that the day will be recognized nationwide to celebrate the vital contributions of Ghana’s farmers and fishers to national development, food security, and economic stability.
Farmers’ Day is observed annually on the first Friday of December. This year’s celebration is themed “Eat Ghana, Grow Ghana, Secure the Future,” emphasizing the importance of local production and consumption in building a resilient national economy.
The Ministry has urged the public to mark the holiday in a manner that reflects its significance, honoring the dedication and labor of those in the agricultural sector.
Farmers’ Day ceremonies typically include awards for outstanding farmers and fisherfolk, agricultural exhibitions, and policy dialogues aimed at strengthening Ghana’s agri-food systems.
