DECLARE YOUR ASSETS BY JULY 15 – Mahama Orders MMDCEs

All Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have been directed by President John Dramani Mahama to declare their assets by July 15, 2025, in accordance with constitutional obligations.

He emphasised the value of accountability and openness in public service while speaking to them on Wednesday, July 18, at an orientation and training program for MMDCEs from all over the nation in Accra.

“I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets,” he said.

By Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, each public officer appointed into office is required to declare their assets before and after holding such office.

Mr. Mahama has stated that asset reporting is essential to fighting corruption and building trust in public servants at all governmental levels since taking office in January 2025.

Since then, he has made sure all of his appointees have declared their holdings in accordance with the constitution.

As was the case with several appointees, he warned that defaulters would be subject to the appropriate punishment.
