DEDE AYEW APPEARS BEFORE PARLIAMENT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS OVER POOR AFCON CAMPAIGN

Andre Ayew, the captain of Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars has, at last, made an appearance before the Select Committee on Youth and Sports of Parliament to respond to inquiries on the dismal performance of the national side in 2021 AFCON.

The Black Stars were led by Ayew to one of their poorest tournament performances ever, losing all of their group games.

The competition in Cameroon was disappointing for Milovan Rajevac’s team, which resulted in a humiliating 3-2 loss to Comoros.

After losing to both Gabon and Morocco, Ghana’s performance against the underdogs caused them to place last in Group C.

Otto Addo, who led the team to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, has since taken over as coach in Rajevac’s absence.

The 31-year-old gave each committee member a signed jersey after responding to their queries individually.

After Asante Kotoko easily won the Ghana Premier League, Ayew wished them luck in their CAF Champions League run the following season.

The Al Sadd winger declared that he is firmly behind the Porcupine Warriors and will support them in their conquest of Africa with prayers.

This was said by Ayew in a speech following the 2022 Calcio Trade Ball awards last Saturday at the Kempinski Hotel, where he received the top honor.

“Kotoko won the league, congratulations to them. We know how big of a team they are in Ghana. We will be behind and pray for them to do something great in Africa,” he said, as quoted by Ghanaweb.

“I think we can see the progress. I watch the league, especially Hearts and Kotoko matches. I watch a lot of their games when I’m not playing, and I think the league is improving. I think the level of the players is also improving.

“I think the organization is getting better, and we are on the right step, but we are not there yet. But we are taking steps to get there, and I’ve seen a lot of good players, and the coaches have done great jobs,” he added
