Asamoah Gyan, former captain of the senior national team, the Black Stars claims that he does not see the current captain of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew as his friend despite playing together in the national team.

Gyan stated that while he has no issues with Ayew off the field, they are not close friends in an interview with Kumasi-based Wontumi FM.
“Andre is my teammate but he’s not my friend. In every job, you work together but not everyone is your friend that you go and come with,” the veteran striker said.
“Andre is my teammate and when we’re in camp we work together, but I can’t ask him to join me to go and sit somewhere and have a conversation. I also have my own clique.”
He played at the 2019 (AFCON) in Egypt, but he hasn’t played for the national team since.
