DETAILS OF AUGUST MILITARY HELICOPTER CRASH REPORT TO BE MADE PUBLIC TODAY
The findings of the investigation into the tragic crash that killed eight, including two government ministers, will be released at a media briefing, offering clarity on one of Ghana's most devastating air disasters.

The Government of Ghana is set to make public the full details of the investigation into the August 6 military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including a former Minister of Defence.
The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that the report will be unveiled at a media briefing today, Tuesday, November 11. This follows the presentation of the findings by the investigative committee, led by Acting Defence Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, to the President and the National Security Council on Monday.
The tragic incident involved a Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9EH helicopter (tail number GHF 631) which departed from Accra on an anti-illegal mining mission to Obuasi. The aircraft lost radar contact and crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District.
The crash resulted in the loss of all eight souls on board:
- Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence
- Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology
- Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
- Samuel Sarpong, Vice-Chair of the NDC
- Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate
- Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
- Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu
- Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
The final report, chaired by National Security Coordinator Abdul-Osman Razak, incorporated technical analysis from the Ghana Air Force, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, and international aviation experts. The public briefing is expected to share key findings and crucial recommendations aimed at preventing future aviation disasters in military and government operations.
