DIVORCE THREAT ALLEGEDLY TRIGGERED FORMER NPP MP NII NOI NORTEY TO STAB HIS WIFE – Uncle Speaks

Relative recounts events leading to domestic violence incident as victim remains in ICU

A threat of divorce allegedly triggered the stabbing of the wife of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, according to an account given by a family member.

In an audio recording heard by NKONKONSA.com, a man identified as the uncle of the victim narrated events he said led to the violent incident in the United States.

According to the uncle, the couple had engaged in what he described as a “minor marital argument,” during which the woman allegedly indicated that she might file for divorce if their issues persisted. He claimed this statement did not sit well with Mr Nortey.

“She told me that during the conversation, Ninoy said if she attempted to divorce him, then it was either he would kill her or kill himself,” the uncle alleged.

He further claimed that the confrontation escalated when Mr Nortey allegedly went into the kitchen, prompting the woman to retreat into a room and lock the door. According to the account, Mr Nortey allegedly forced his way in by breaking the door with a knife and stabbed her three times.

The uncle alleged that despite her injuries, the woman pleaded to be taken to hospital, and Mr Nortey agreed on the condition that she would not disclose that he was responsible for the stabbing.

“She agreed because she was in severe pain, and that was the only way he agreed to take her to the hospital,” he said.

However, the uncle claimed that the woman managed to escape when she realised she still had her car keys in her pocket. According to the narration, she ran to her vehicle, locked herself inside, and drove herself to the hospital where she works, despite allegedly being chased by Mr Nortey, who was still armed with a knife.

As at the time the audio was recorded, the uncle said the woman was receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The allegations follow the arrest of Mr Nortey by police in Pennsylvania, where he has been charged with attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, and tampering with evidence. Police have confirmed that the victim is in a stable condition, while investigations remain ongoing.

Authorities have not officially commented on the specific claims made in the audio recording.
