DO THE RIGHT THING’ – Empress Gifty Calls Out Ernest Chemist For Using Her Late Mother’s Pictures On Billboards For Promotional Purposes Without Proper Protocols
Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty, has publicly expressed her disappointment with pharmaceutical company Ernest Chemist for using images of her late mother in billboard advertisements without seeking her consent or following due process.
According to the singer, the company featured photos of her deceased mother on several promotional billboards without first engaging her or any member of her family for approval.
She described the act as deeply disrespectful and emotionally hurtful, especially considering the sensitive nature of her mother’s passing.
Speaking in a social media video that has since gone viral, Empress Gifty said, “There are proper protocols that must be followed. You don’t just wake up and use someone’s mother’s picture on a billboard after her death for your product without informing the family.”
She emphasised that while she appreciates the possible intention behind the gesture, the lack of communication and transparency by Ernest Chemist was unacceptable.
“My family was not contacted. I wasn’t consulted. This is not how such matters should be handled,” she added.
As of now, Ernest Chemist has not issued an official response to the allegations.
However, industry watchers are urging the company to address the matter quickly and respectfully, possibly with an apology and clarification.
