DON’T BLAME NIGERIANS IF GHANA’S ‘ONE-WAY’ SONGS CAN’T GO INTERNATIONAL – Abrewa Nana

Ghanaian Musician Abrewa Nana, real name Dorcas Opoku Dakwa, the female singer and songwriter, has identified the reasons why Ghanaian music is unable to travel far and cross borders.

Speaking on the Kastle Entertainment Show with Amansan Krakye, Abrewa Nana remarked that most musicians only consider what they can do with the tunes within a month or two.

“Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why our music in Ghana doesn’t go far,” she speculated, “because we’re not imaginative in our music-making.”

“They think about what they can make out of the song in a month or two or three,” she added. “Maybe that’s the image they have of the music industry, but that’s not how it works.”

On Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Abrewa Nana said that we sometimes blame Nigerians when our songs don’t go abroad because our notions have become “one-way.”

So if it occurs like that, all of our notions become one way, and maybe that’s why we can’t move far with our music, she said.
