Ghanaian music producer and politician Mark Okraku Mantey has advised citizens, both at home and abroad, to talk positively about Ghana and promote its culture rather than expose its flaws as Twene Jonas does.
Twene Jonas is a social commentator who has amassed a large social media following over the years as a result of his viral videos in which he speaks about the problems and poor governance in his motherland.
Jonas, who is residing in the United States, is known for his phrase ‘Glass Nkoaa,’ which refers to his belief that the United States is considerably more sophisticated than Ghana since their system works well.
However, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, have condemned such utterances as well as the negative image they paint about the country to the rest of the world.
“When you see that there is something on tourism, you should show interest. Don’t say you are different, you should show interest in tourism. When you step out and you have to speak about Ghana, speak good, say nice things about Ghana,” he said this while speaking in an interview with Hitz FM.
He has advised everyone with “access to microphones” not to follow in the footsteps of Twene Jonas, who disgraces the country at every chance.
“Don’t go and exhibit our weaknesses. Every country has got its weaknesses but they don’t tell us. It is up to you to tell your story. So as people who have access to microphones or the owners of microphones, use your microphones to sell Ghana, say good things. Don’t copy Twene Jonas,” he charged.
