DON’T HAVE WEDDINGS UNLESS THE MAN CAN PROVE HE HAS GH¢100K IN HIS BANK ACCOUNT — Archbishop Duncan-Williams Warns Youth Against Lavish Wedding

Archbishop Duncan Williams has advised young people to be cautious about spending beyond their means when planning weddings, warning that going into debt for a lavish ceremony can create long-term financial problems.

Speaking on the issue of marriage and financial responsibility, the founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International stressed that weddings should not become a burden that follows couples into their married life.

He noted that many young couples start marriage under pressure because they borrowed money just to impress others on their wedding day.

According to Archbishop Duncan Williams, financial stability should come before hosting an elaborate wedding ceremony. He strongly suggested that couples should delay marriage celebrations until they are financially prepared.

“Discourage people from having wedding unless the man can prove he has GHS100k in his bank account,” he said.

He explained that marriage itself is more important than the wedding event, adding that couples should focus on building a strong foundation rather than spending huge sums on one-day celebrations.

The clergyman encouraged families and friends to stop pressuring young people into organising expensive weddings that they cannot afford.

His comments have sparked discussions on social media, with many agreeing that financial readiness is key to a successful marriage, while others believe the amount suggested may be unrealistic for many young people.
