The king of Ashanti land, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has bitterly lamented over the intermittent cut in power supply outages in the Ashanti Region as he reveals that all his electronic appliances have been destroyed as a result of it.
Otumfuo made this revelation at the Manhyia palace when Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, together with the management of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Volta River Authority (VRA) paid a courtesy call on him on Wednesday, 1 December 2021.
As a matter of fact, a lot of companies and residential homes in the Ashanti region have been adversely affected by the power outages.
GRIDCo has attributed the power outages to the damage done to its 330kV Aboadze-Kumasi transmission lines at Bogoso after a communication tower fell on it.
In a report by Ghbase.com, the Asantehene appealed to the Energy Ministry and its partners, including GRIDCo and ECG, to do their best to resolve the power fluctuations.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that the development of the nation depends on electricity, adding that if the lights are not stable, it will go a long way to affect the government’s “one district-one factory” policy.
He, therefore, urged the power-producing companies to collaborate to solve the erratic power situation affecting the region as soon as possible.
