The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi can’t fathom why the current government will consider imposing a tax electronic transactions.
Speaking to Johnnie Hughes on TV3’s New Day on Tuesday, Sammy Gyamfi described the Electronic Transfer Levy, often known as the e-levy, as “crazy,” claiming that it is arcane in the system of taxes in Ghana and that it is “stupid.”
The Value Added Tax (VAT) and other taxes,, February 1, are “taxing on spending.” He cited the VAT and other taxes as examples of taxation on savings.
He further went ahead to describe the policy as theft and blamed Akufo Addo’s government of deception. He said; “e-levy is not a tax.” “It is a kind of stealing.”
