PETROLEUM HUB DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION SIGNS €5.5 MILLION DEAL TO TRAIN 780,000 GHANAIANS IN THE PETROLEUM SECTOR

The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), led by CEO Charles Owusu Esq., has entered a significant partnership with Spanish institutions to bolster Ghana’s petroleum sector workforce. The €5.5 million agreement, signed in Las Palmas, Spain, will enable the training of over 780,000 Ghanaians for diverse roles within the petroleum industry. This initiative aligns with Ghana’s commitment to establishing a sustainable and diversified energy economy.

The training program is set to unfold in three phases, covering a wide range of skills for the petroleum downstream sector. Participants will gain expertise in essential areas such as infrastructure development, including civil works and drainage systems, to meet the sector’s growing demands. The program will accommodate skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers, preparing them to support investors and enhance the industry’s workforce capacity.

Key collaborators include Canary Consulting & Trading (CCT) and Aurum Global Partners (AGP), organizations dedicated to fostering technical expertise in the energy sector. The University of Las Palmas, along with the Finnova Foundation and Casa África (an institution under the Canary Islands Government), will play a crucial role in the initiative. These institutions bring extensive experience in sustainable development, maritime logistics, and energy innovation, ensuring a robust training foundation for the Ghanaian workforce.

At the signing ceremony, the President of Casa África, José Segura Clavell, highlighted the strategic importance of Las Palmas as a major interport between Africa, Europe, and Latin America, emphasizing its vital role in the success of Ghana’s Petroleum Hub. The partnership is expected to create direct and indirect job opportunities, promoting economic growth and empowering Ghanaians to contribute meaningfully to the energy sector’s future.

This collaboration marks a critical step in realizing Ghana’s vision for a modernized petroleum sector, providing Ghanaians with the skills needed to support the nation’s energy ambitions.
