EKOW BLACK GRANTED GH¢30,000 BAIL IN DOMESTIC ABUSE CASE

The social media personality has been charged with assault and other related offences

Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 by the Adabraka Magistrate Court after appearing over an alleged case of domestic abuse.

The 25-year-old unemployed man was charged with assault, contrary to Section 84 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). He is accused of assaulting Rachel Oduro without her consent, with the intent to cause harm and pain.

According to the prosecution, the alleged assault occurred on November 30, 2025, within the Accra Magisterial District, where the complainant was subjected to what prosecutors described as a severe beating.

The case attracted widespread public attention after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media. The accused, however, argued in court that the assault took place several months prior to the video going viral.

In addition to the assault charge, Ekow Black is also facing separate charges relating to threats to share intimate images and sextortion, according to the prosecution.

The court admitted the accused to bail with sureties and directed him to reappear on February 10, 2026, for further proceedings.

The case forms part of growing public scrutiny over domestic violence and online-related offences, particularly involving individuals with a significant social media presence.
