The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) arrested Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signal Bureau under the National Security Council.
The arrest took place on the night of Thursday, March 19, 2025, at Kotoka International Airport.
At the airport, witnesses reported that EOCO’s Acting Deputy Executive Director, Raymond Archer, led the operation.
He stayed on the scene for many hours before Adu-Boahene was detained.
Although EOCO hasn’t released an official statement, it’s reported that Adu-Boahene was arrested when he landed on a British Airways flight from Heathrow, London, due to an active arrest warrant against him.
Initial details suggest that he is being investigated for several types of financial crimes. These include allegations of misuse of funds and other related offenses.
The arrest of Adu-Boahene is expected to bring about important changes in Ghana’s intelligence and security system. This is particularly significant because the NSB is one of the most powerful agencies responsible for national security in the country.
