Eugene who was present at the event which place at Yard 158, Oregun, 34 Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday July 24, 2016 beat some well-known Ghana’s foremost entertainment writers including; Zion Felix Adomako – Zionfelix.net, Francis Addo – Ghanareporter.com, Ebenezer Nana Yaw Donkoh – NYDJLive, Cypress – Cypressghana.com, Isaac Kwaku Aidoo – Ghkwaku.com, Ameyaw Debrah –Ameyawdebrah.com and Ebenezer Anangfio – Ghanagist.com to win the award.
This is the third time Eugene has been nominated for the same award, since 2013 and finally carried it home this year. The CPEA is an annual award ceremony with primary objective of recognizing the contributions of Nigerian and African Entertainers.
The award ceremony, in its 7th year, is not only focused on recognizing Nigerian entertainers but also highlights others who continue to make an impact in the immediate communities in Nigeria or extended communities in the diaspora.
The name Eugene Osafo-Nkansah is a familiar name in show business in Ghana . He started as an event co-coordinator for an event company he registered with five other friends “One Soul International” which in 2002 organized the biggest second cycle rap, dance and basketball competition ever organized at the Aviation Social Center dubbed “Up in the Smoke Fiesta” among other events.
He has closely followed the music, movie, radio, television, tourism and arts and craft industries. An entertainment journalist by choice. Eugene started with his own entertainment weekly newspaper called ” Ghana Billboard” which he was the editor in 2004. He later became the assistant editor in chief for another entertainment weekly news paper in 2005 called Loud and Kicking (L&K). Over the years he has matured into a well known arts and entertainment writer in the country.
Along the line he was a columnist in a bi-weekly entertainment soft sell “Prime People” where use to criticize, analyze and report on issues bordering the industry and events as well. He wrote articles for Musicbiz magazine (A credible music magazine) and Celebrity magazine.
He later ventured into radio as a producer and Mr. Osafo-Nkansah has been a part of almost every entertainment discussion program on radio in the capital. He was the producer for “Solid Gold Countdown” aired on Radio Gold every Saturday presented by Mutala Mutare (Prime Eye). He later became the producer for “205” a similar entertainment discursion program on the then Channel ‘R’ 92.7 FM presented by D.J Abio and also on Abeiku Santana’s program “Efie kwan so” he had a fifteen minutes segment titled “Celebrity Watch” which took a critical look at things celebrities do that the public do not hear about on radio. It aired on Friday between 5:40pm and 5:55pm on Adom 106.3 FM.
His dedication and commitment to the showbiz industry has virtually made him a part of everything that goes on. He was also a writer for the one of the then most popular entertainment newspaper “Weekly Fylla” and a reporter for Ghanamusic.com. Eugene Osafo-Nkansah has being the producer for the biggest entertainment discussion program on radio presently “Entertainment Review” aired on Peace 104.3 FM presented by Kwasi Aboagye since 2006 till date and he is currently the Entertainment Editor, for Ghana’s most authoritative online portal Peacefmonline.com.
Eugene was a member of categorization committee for Ghana Music Awards for 3 years and the head of research for Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) from 2010 to 2015.
After almost a decade in the mainstream media in Ghana, Eugene has currently created his own brand and platform as a Blogger for Nkonkonsa.com which is a celebrity gossip and paparazzi website.
Eugene has also managed artistes like Nana King, Ex-Doe, A-Plus and several others. He has also worked as publicists for several celebrities including Kwaw Kese, Becca, Hammer of The Last Two, Edem, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Afia Schwarzenegger, Guru, Okyeame Kwame, Samini, Mzbel among others.
As graduate from Academy of Film Acting , acting is another side of this hardened critic and entertainment writer which has not being exploited yet. His experience and involvement in the industry puts him above his peers.
