EVERY ASSEMBLY TO RECEIVE GH₵25MILLION THIS YEAR – President Mahama Assures

Every Ghanaian Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assembly (MMDA) will get at least ₵25 million this year, according to President John Dramani Mahama’s announcement.

The purpose of the funding is to guarantee that local governments have the resources necessary to address the development requirements of their areas.

President Mahama emphasised the government’s strong commitment to decentralised development and the critical role of local authorities in national advancement while speaking to MMDCEs during an orientation and training session held in Accra on Wednesday, July 18.

“This year, every assembly from the largest to the smallest will receive not less than GH₵25 million,” he assured.

The provision is in line with the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2024 program, which places local governance at the forefront of Ghana’s development goal, the President said.

“The NDC manifesto outlines a bold and people-centred agenda that puts local government at the heart of national development. You are the first line of the economy,” he stated.

President Mahama further highlighted that the 2025 budget statement reflects this priority by committing 80 per cent of the District Assemblies Common Fund to MMDAs.
