THE CURRENT CEDI APPRECIATION IS BECAUSE OF DR. BAWUMIA — Former Government Spokesperson on Economy, Manasseh Atta Boahene

Former Government Spokesperson on the Economy, Manasseh Atta Boahene, has credited the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi to policies initiated by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking in an interview with local media, Mr. Boahene said the gains made by the cedi in recent weeks are not accidental but the result of solid economic foundations laid under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia.

“The current cedi appreciation is because of Dr. Bawumia. The NDC needs to give the former vice president some credit,” he stated.

Mr. Boahene explained that key reforms introduced during Dr. Bawumia’s tenure, including efforts to digitise the economy, reduce fiscal deficits, and attract foreign investment, are now yielding positive results.

The Ghanaian cedi has shown notable strength against major foreign currencies such as the US dollar in recent weeks, bringing some relief to importers and consumers alike.
