At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a white lab coat and a stethoscope and was reportedly on his way to meet another potential victim.
In a press statement, the police said they retrieved several medical items from the suspect, including two stethoscopes, three intravenous (IV) drips, five syringes, two sample bottles, one roll of plaster, six bottles of vaccines, and cash amounting to GH¢8,500.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to posing as a doctor at the United Brain Hospital in Mallam, a suburb of Accra. He also confessed to using this false identity to engage women online, build romantic relationships with them, and convince them to send him money for fake travel arrangements to Europe.
Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be arraigned before court.
