Yaw Dabo, an actor and the founder of the Dabo Soccer Academy, has stated that it is completely fine for coaches or other football-related parties to favor some players over others.
The tiny actor astonishingly maintains that forming relationships is key for development while asserting that favoritism is important in all spheres.
“Everyone has an interest in something. Even as a team owner, when my team is going to play, I prefer that certain players be used. But the coach might not want that player to play. If I’m present, I will go against the coach.
“All the players are Ghanaians. That is why it is important to form relationships. If you play very well and another player also plays well. So who will I choose? I will pick the one that I have an interest in.”
Yaw Dabo who contributed Afriyie Barnieh for the Ghana Black Stars team that represented Ghana in Qatar continued with his theory saying;
“I am very happy when a child I nurtured reaches the highest level. When he started playing friendly matches, I received calls from several agents. It makes me happy and also paves the way for the young ones coming.”
