FDA TO SHUTDOWN FOOD JOINTS OPERATING WITHOUT HYGIENE PERMITS

With effect from February 1, 2026, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has declared that all food service businesses without a current Food Hygiene Permit will be immediately closed.
Restaurants, lounges, hotels, chop bars, snack bars, food vans, bakeries, event caterers, internet food vendors, and canteens in offices, hospitals, and schools are just a few of the many food-related establishments covered by the directive.
Section 130(1) of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), which forbids the production, sale, delivery, or storage of regulated items in locations that are not formally registered for such operations, is what the FDA claims the enforcement action complies with.
