Stonebwoy, a reggae and dancehall musician, has given reasons for why a remix of his song “Jejereje” with Skrewfaze will not happen.
During a chat with Nana Ama McBrown on Onua Showtime, the Afro-dancehall artist spoke about fans asking for the remix.
Stonebwoy said that collaborating with Skrewfaze would be purely for the pleasure of it and would not result in any financial gains.
He stressed that despite planning multiple remixes of “Jejereje,” he will prioritize commercial aspects in addition to satisfying fan desires.
“When the song came out, many people mentioned Skrewfaze, and he was happy about it, even posting a video. But Portfolio made a point: the industry is vast. From a fan’s perspective, it sounds great, but if you break it down, a feature with Skrewfaze would only serve the purpose of being nice. I already have plans for multiple remixes,” he said.
Stonebwoy also pointed out that he doesn’t solely make decisions regarding collaborations, as his management team is involved in these decisions as well.
He thinks Skrewfaze could make his own rendition of the song with the same beat without being reached out to.
“If the song inspires a legend, the simplest thing to do is to create a version over the beat at that moment. It’s been less than a week, so reaching out wasn’t necessary. I think I even commented and reposted about it,” he noted.
Skrewfaze’s name has been brought up often in talks about a possible remix of “Jejereje,” as fans have noted that the song’s sound is similar to Skrewfaze’s previous music.
Skrewfaze, with a career spanning more than twenty years in the music business, is famous for songs such as “Gbalagazaa,” “Bue Bue,” “Maabena,” “Ogogologo,” and “Too Fast,” among others.
