Ghanaian journalist and anti-corruption activist Manasseh Azuri has cautioned his fellow journalists against taking up the cause of rival media outlets’ journalists.
An investigative who formerly worked for Multi-Media Ghana claims that it is dangerous for a journalist to stand up for a coworker at another media outlet.
Manasseh’s remark follows Bridget Otoo’s criticism of Dr. Kwabena Duffour, proprietor of the EIB Network, for allegedly failing to pay his employees for the previous nine months.
The Metro TV broadcaster criticized the station’s management for failing to act morally rather than firing some employees who raise concerns about unpaid wages.
Reacting to the report, Manasseh in a Facebook post said “if you are a journalist, one thing you should be careful about is fighting for journalists in another media house. It’s deadly”.
Bridget Otoo has agreed with Manasseh as she responded to his post by saying that “this is true, you can lose fake friends in the process. The irony about a lot of media personalities is they are cowards deep down and would throw you under the bus”.
“They demand of the politician the very thing they can’t even demand of their colleagues or management,“ she concluded.
