FISHERMAN WHO DEFILED 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON

Samuel Armah, 49, pleaded guilty to the October 16 assault that was captured in a viral video, while police continue to search for four accomplices who remain at large.

A 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, popularly known as ‘Kofi Nyan’, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor by a Cape Coast Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year-old girl in Mumford, Central Region.

The convict pleaded guilty before Her Honour Nana Aba Quiba Nunoo at Circuit Court Two on October 28, 2025, and was convicted on his own plea. The offense occurred on October 16, when Armah lured the victim into a ghetto in Mumford, with the assault being recorded in a video that later went viral.

According to a press release from the Central Regional Police Command, the victim was initially examined and treated at St. Luke Catholic Hospital before the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).

At DOVVSU, Armah admitted to the crime and has been remanded to Ankaful Prison to begin serving his sentence. The police have also appealed to residents of Mumford and surrounding communities to assist in apprehending four identified accomplices—Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto—who remain at large.
