FIVE DEAD, FOUR INJURED IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT AT ASIKUMA JUNCTION

Grey Toyota Noah Collides with Tipper Truck; Minor Among the Rescued

A devastating road accident at Asikuma Junction in the Asuogyaman District has claimed the lives of five individuals, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed on Monday.

The collision involved a grey Toyota Noah with registration number GX 422-25 and a tipper truck registered as GT 725-19.

According to a post on the official GNFS Facebook page, a rescue team from the Peki Fire Station, led by AstnO Fred Aganu and accompanied by the Acting District Fire Officer, ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, was immediately dispatched to the scene after a distress call was received.

The emergency responders faced a grim scene. Out of a total of nine casualties involved in the accident, four individuals, including a minor, were successfully rescued by the GNFS team. They were subsequently transported to the Peki Government Hospital for medical treatment by the National Ambulance Service.

Tragically, the remaining five victims were pronounced unresponsive at the scene. Their bodies have been handed over to the police for further investigation and identification.

The incident adds to the growing concern over road safety in Ghana, with authorities yet to release details on the possible cause of the fatal collision.
