FORMER BLACK STAR STRIKER, PRINCE TAGOE REMANDED IN POLICE CUSTODY OVER ALLEGED $40,000 4X4 LEXUS CAR FRAUD

Prince Tagoe, a former striker for Ghana and Hearts of Oak, has been placed into legal detention until January 4, 2023.

Tagoe is accused of bilking George Antwi Boateng, a former Middlesborough player and current assistant coach of the Black Stars, out of $40,000.

The ex-footballer was remanded to detention by the Circuit Court in Accra, presided over by His Honour Mr Samuel Bright Acquah, despite entering a not guilty plea.

Lawyer George Asamani, representing Tagoe, asked the court to release the ex-footballer on bail.

However, Chief Inspector Agartha Abena Asantewaa of the prosecution opposed the request, arguing that Tagoe poses a flight risk.

Allegedly, Tagoe had promised to import a Lexus 4×4 for the ex-Aston Villa player. Delivering the car to Ghana cost the parties involved $40,000.

On January 8, 2021, Tagoe confirmed receiving $40,000 from the complaint into First Atlantic Bank Account No. 0016531332032.

Despite the two years passing after the arrangement, the car has still not arrived in Ghana. While the athlete remains in detention, his next hearing is scheduled for January.
