FORMER BOST MD ALLEGEDLY ARRESTED, HELD IN EOCO CUSTODY
The arrest of Dr. Edwin Alfred Provencal, linked to the Gold-for-Oil program, prompts calls from his party for due process and transparency from investigative bodies.

Former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Dr. Edwin Alfred Provencal, has been reportedly arrested and is in the custody of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
According to former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary John Boadu, Dr. Provencal was apprehended at the Kotoka International Airport on Monday, November 10, 2025, while preparing to travel to Maputo for an official engagement. Boadu claimed that the former MD’s name had been on a flight watchlist since October 8 without his knowledge.
The arrest follows a recent forensic risk assessment by the policy think tank IMANI Africa, which alleged significant governance failures and fiscal losses within the government’s Gold-for-Oil initiative. The report called for prosecutions and the recovery of misappropriated revenues, citing issues with pricing controls and structural loopholes. Dr. Provencal has previously rejected such claims, insisting the program adhered to strict transparency standards.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, John Boadu affirmed the NPP’s support for accountability but stressed the importance of following due process. “We in the NPP are not saying that when people are found culpable in a crime, they shouldn’t face the law. But due process must be followed,” he stated.
Boadu also sought to distance the party from the alleged financial misconduct, noting, “If someone is accused of stealing or embezzling funds, they did not bring it to the NPP or finance the party, so far as I am concerned.”
He further raised practical concerns about the freezing of suspects’ accounts during investigations, arguing that it could hinder their ability to secure legal representation. Boadu called on authorities to ensure transparency and fairness to maintain public confidence in the handling of the case.
