FORMER KENYAN GOALKEEPER ERIC WAFULA STONED TO DEATH OVER ALLEGED PHONE THEFT

Tragedy struck in Kenya as former goalkeeper Eric Wafula and his companion were brutally killed by an angry mob over accusations of phone theft. Reports from local media indicate that the two were accused of snatching a mobile phone from a pedestrian on the street, triggering violent retaliation by bystanders.

Community members reportedly attacked Wafula and his companion with stones and sticks, leading to their deaths at the scene. Wafula, who previously played for Mathare FC, had reportedly faced similar accusations in the past and was known to have been involved in police interventions in Kariobangi related to phone theft.

Police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident and have pledged to bring those responsible to justice. One officer lamented the tragic end of the former goalkeeper, stating, “The fame that came with his talent saved his life on several occasions. It is deeply sad that such a talented goalkeeper’s life ended in this manner.”

This violent incident raises serious concerns about mob justice and community safety in the region.
