FORMER NPP PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE VALENTINO NORTEY ARRESTED IN US FOR ALLEGEDLY STABBING HIS WIFE

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has been arrested in the United States after allegedly stabbing his wife during a domestic incident, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. on January 17 along Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, the Lower Paxton Township Police reported. Officers described the case as a domestic-related stabbing and confirmed that the victim was transported to hospital by first responders.

“The woman was taken to the hospital by first responders and is currently in stable condition,” police said, adding that there was no threat to public safety at any point.

Mr Nortey, 41, a resident of Harrisburg, has been charged with multiple offences, including attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime with intent to use, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Online court records indicate that Mr Nortey was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied him bail. He is currently being held at the Dauphin County Prison.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 26, as investigations into the incident continue. Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the alleged stabbing.

Mr Nortey previously contested the Klottey Korle parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NPP in Ghana.
