The Ghana Football Association has denied reports that the Ministry of Finance gave them $800,000 to assist pay for friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua.
Two Ghanaian journalists, Collins Atta Poku and Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, reported on October 25, 2022, that Ken Ofori-Atta, the minister of finance, had given the Ghana Football Association (GFA) $800,000 to pay match expenditures during the month of September 2022, when there was an international break.
In response to this story, the GFA said it had never received any money of this kind from the Ministry of Finance and advised the public to disregard it.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) claims that this article is simply an intentional ploy to “pit the people against the Ghana Football Association and to drag our name in the mud.”
